Writing book reviews are difficult. Especially when you really LOVE a book your reviewing. I know that sounds strange but I worry that you’ll think that I’m embellishing or exaggerating my opinion… I can assure you that I am not. I’m offered the opportunity to review LOTS of books & products and I decline MOST because they aren’t something that I feel is in-line with my healthy beliefs and couldn’t offer a positive review.
When I was presented with the opportunity to review Eat the Yolks, by Liz Wolfe – I was so excited. I mean REALLY excited.
Many of you may know of Liz from her blog Real Food Liz (formerly Cavegirl Eats) or maybe the Balanced Bites Podcast where she co-hosts with Diane Sanfilippo. And if you don’t already know Liz – you’re totally missing out!
Liz is the ultimate trifecta: Beauty, Brains & Goats.
I’ve been following Liz for the past few years, but only recently have I had the opportunity to connect with her personally. As fellow homesteaders, we’ve connected through our Instagram pics of chickens, gardening, real food eating and pet loving. It was totally Liz’s recommendation that started my hubby & I taking raw liver every morning 🙂
So, now that you know who Liz is and that before reading her book know that our “healthy eating philosophies” are aligned… Let’s talk about her book Eat the Yolks…
Eat the Yolks, by Liz Wolfe is one of the most important books in the Real Food movement. It creates a comfortable learning environment for people who desperately need to know the truth.
Eating real, natural foods with a long history in the human diet isn’t hard. Unlearning all the crap we’ve been taught? That’s hard.”
Let’s face it, we’ve all been lied to and given totally wrong direction when it comes to how to eat for our health. And as you start hearing about Real Food and thats it’s healthier – it’s all can be very overwhelming. Besides sorting through all the do’s and don’ts you’ve gotta know what to eat instead and Liz cover it’s all.
What I love the most about Liz’s approach to educating people is her whitty, casual, conversational voice. It’s totally like she’s at your house, sitting on your couch, kicked back drinking a glass of (organic) wine, chit-chatting one-on-one with you. She makes the how’s & why’s easy to understand and gives clearly actionable changes to make. Her voice is engaging and funny, she makes it all so much easier to digest – all the while her arguments against the flawed modern-medical health dogma are solidly backed up by both Liz’s work as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association and the works of hundreds of scientist and activists.
Liz explains how we got to such a place of ill health and gives you clear, concise ways to break the vicious cycle and bring health back into your life. It brings together all the fundamental points to eating Real Food that each and every person needs to know.
