Love stainless steel appliances, but cleaning it? It never fails, as soon as you finally have gotten your stainless steel clean & streak free, somebody touches it and … AHHH FINGERPRINTS! It feels like a never ending battle! Our dishwasher is under the most used section of our kitchen counter, so it’s always getting something dripped and splattered on it. I struggled to find a cleaner that would actually CLEAN it and not leave a streaky mess behind. Not to mention, I’m super picky about what cleaning products I use. I only use natural, non-toxic cleaning products, preferably homemade. I heard that Lemon Essential Oil was good for cleaning stainless steel, I tried it and agreed it was totally awesome… HOWEVER, using that much Lemon Essential Oil on a regular basis, would be a little too expensive for our budget. So, I continued to research and read. I tried so many different options, but kept going back to Lemon Essential Oil. If Lemon Essential Oil cleans stainless steel, what about any other OIL? I went through my pantry and tried olive oil, it worked fairly well but not perfectly. And I tried coconut oil, but it was so messy trying to use a solid fat to clean the front of my dishwasher 🙁 One morning while I was making my Frothy Coffee, I realized I didn’t try MCT oil to clean stainless steel. MCT is basically liquid coconut oil, well just the Medium Chain Triglyceride portion. (It’s the key ingredient in my Metabolic & Energy Boosting Frothy Coffee) I put a little MCT on a rag and buffed my dishwasher — it worked! But not as well as the Lemon Essential Oil…. I grabbed a glass spray bottle, filled it with MCT and added Lemon Essential Oil – gave it a good shake and sprayed it on every stainless steel surface in our home. It is the most AWESOME stainless steel cleaner I’ve ever used! And a little goes a long way. After I give my dishwasher front a light mist & buff, there’s enough residual oil left over on my rag to clean the front of my range oven door. It’s important that anytime you use essential oils, that you use them in a glass container. They are very powerful and can dissolve plastics… Which reminds me… I forgot to tell you, my Homemade Stainless Steel Cleaner Spray is also awesome for removing STICKERS! I kind-of have a saving-glass bottle addiction, and after removing the top paper/plastic layer of a sticker I give it a quick spray with my oil cleaner, let it sit for a little while (or overnight) and then it just wipes off!
