Homemade Garlic-Butter Croutons (with gluten free option)

croutons-01

I can’t even think back to a time that I didn’t make my own croutons! Honestly, I don’t even know how I came up with this idea.. but it’s life changing.. I promise you’ll never buy croutons ever again.. and if your gluten free, rejoice you can again enjoy croutons on your salad!!!

Here’s what you need to make my Homemade Garlic-Butter Croutons

  • Bread or Buns (gluten free, if desired)
  • Butter
  • Garlic Powder
  • Sea Salt
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Dried Parsley

Cut your bread/buns into crouton sized cubes… This is a great way to use up bread that’s a little old/hard or something you just don’t love.. for example we have some gluten free hot dog buns that we don’t love for hot dogs, but when made into croutons, they are divine!

In a large skillet (preferably stainless steel or cast iron) over medium-low heat, melt butter (how much butter?? well that depends on how much bread you’ll be adding! and you can starts small and keep adding more). Start with about 1/8c butter, once it’s melted add in your bread cubes. Mix them around, add additional butter until all the bread cubes look wet with butter… then season your croutons with sea salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley.. keep sautéing them until they are lightly brown on all sides.

Allow to cool, then enjoy in your salad or soup!!
